Approach

I am passionate about clearing space for you to access your own deepest wisdom. The path to doing so looks different for everyone. I honor you as the leader of your healing while offering practices to bridge the body/mind connection and move through stuck places using the following therapy models:

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an effective, evidence-based and efficient treatment option for trauma. It capitalizes on the brain’s own adaptive processing ability and supports it to “digest” and traumatic events and memories. This can greatly reduce the reactivity and “triggers” connected with past traumas and allow new, positive beliefs to be formed. Learn more here.
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) believes in the multifaceted nature of the mind and opens an understanding of the many “parts” of you that make up your whole. An inner critic with self-limiting beliefs? An over-functioning manager who thinks your worth is defined by how productive you can be? Rather than pushing away or disowning parts that may have destructive behaviors or carry challenging emotions, IFS therapy provides tools to befriend them, get to know their essential jobs, unburden pain they carry and ask them to work for — not against — you. • Mindfulness is a way of being that means paying attention without judgment to the thoughts, emotions and sensations that arise. Mindfulness allows us to stay with the present moment and ground us from living in the past or future. I teach mindfulness tools (breathing, self-compassion, body scan, etc) to develop insight and self-compassion, and increase emotion regulation.
  • Cognitive Behavioral and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (CBT & DBT) are models that emphasize the connections between mind, body, mood, behavior & environment. Both provide concrete tools to support in tolerating distress and regulating emotions. By examining the impact of our core beliefs and thinking patterns on our physiological & mood states, we can develop healthier cognitive patterns and ways of seeing the world from a Both/And, rather than Either/Or, perspective.
  • Trauma Center Trauma-sensitive Yoga is a movement practice that offers invitations into physical forms in order for clients to develop a felt sense for their bodies and feel increased agency/control. Learn more here
